What is VAST®?

Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST®) provides digital television and radio services to viewers in remote areas of Australia; as well as viewers who are unable to receive digital TV because of issues relating to local interference, terrain or distance from the transmitter in their area. The VAST® service has channels for the ABC, SBS and the Australian commercial television networks.

Access to the commercial television services on VAST® is governed by broadcast license conditions, and each application is assessed against those criteria. The ABC and SBS services are available to all viewers with a VAST® receiver.
Do I need to activate my smart card?

Yes. To receive a full selection of channels, you will need to register your details and your VAST® Smart Card serial number on-line at www.mysattv.com.au

Please note: your VAST® Smart Card ill only operate with the Set Top Box it was purchased with and not with another Set Top Box.

To identify your VAST® Smart Card number, remove it from the slot on the side of your Set Top Box (remembering which way the card needs to be re-inserted). Take a note of the number printed on your VAST® Smart Card in the position circled in Illustration 1:

Note: The Smart Card number 1061847168 is provided as an example for illustration purposes only. Please use the number from the Smart Card currently inserted in your Set Top Box.

Re-insert the VAST® Smart Card with the contacts facing down and the legend with an arrow facing up, indicating the direction to push. Refer Illustration 2.

Ensure that your new Set Top Box is connected to a correctly pointed satellite dish, your TV, a power source and that “Channel 800” is visible on your TV before starting the registration process.
How do I update the firmware on my MSat DSD 6000 VAST® certified Receiver?

When a new version of software is available, you can use a USB updates from the MSat website or wait for automatic over-the-air updates from Optus.
Can I use the MSat DSD 6000 VAST® certified Receiver in a caravan or RV?

Yes. The Msat DSD 6000 is designed for mobile installations (caravans/RV's) and runs directly on 12V DC power.

What satellite dish do I need?

Please consult an installer to determine what size satellite dish will work for you.
Can I record TV using the USB port?

Yes. The MSat DSD 6000 VAST® certified Receiver supports USB recording and dual-tuner functionality.
How do I get support if I didn’t buy directly from MSat?

Please contact the distributor/installer that you purchased your MSat DSD 6000 VAST® Certified Receiver.
